Ben Simpson

Ben Simpson was Wickford’s postman when it was still a village. There have been many comments on our site about Ben and his brother during  the war.

We recently had these pictures of Ben on his retirement from the Post Office, when he received a canteen of cutlery . The pictures show others including a little girl (unidentified), as well as two gentlemen, one possibly George(?), who may or may not be local to Wickford, giving the presentation to Ben and his wife Elsie.

Ben and Elsie used to live at Victoria Cottage in Swan lane.
