These photos were given to us at a Wickford History Day, but the notes have been lost. Can you identify them please? I believe they all have a connection with The Congregational Church.

  • My Nan and grandad, Sydney and Amelia Townsend, lived at a house called Roma, in Wick Drive, they rented off of the Halls. My mum and dad lived with them when they married in 1958, till they moved to Bromfords Drive in 1961, Don and Jean Townsend

  • My Dad, Robert Cass, was born in Wickford in 1938 and he’s in the VE Day picture labelled Wick Lane (it’s actually Wick Drive as far as I’m aware.) He’s the serious looking boy, first row standing wearing a jacket as well as a v necked jumper and shirt, standing next to a girl with a large white bow in her hair. There is another photo he’s in where all the children are seated at long tables. My grandparents lived in Wick Drive, no. 8 I think, with my Dad and his sister (born March 1945) from 1939 to around 1987. They rented their house from the Hall family; we still have the rent book!
