My grandparents are recorded as spending their last days in The Nook, Cranfield Park Road, Wickford, in 1945, but I cannot find any record of it – do you have any knowledge of this ? I assume that it was a nursing home. Thank you in anticipation.
My great great grandmother and her husband, Maria Ann and Benjamin Clarke, moved to North Benfleet around 1927. Her son-in-law was a builder; the whole family moved from Tottenham and he built several houses of which I assume The Nook was one. They lived there until Maria Ann died in 1936 and Benjamin in 1937. My great grandfather, George Fletcher (the builder) lived at Ivydene, which was also in Cranfield Park Road, at the end near the current A127.
