Billericay War Diary, 2nd October 1940.
At 01:00 two parachute mines fell, one hitting ‘Stoke Teign’, Swan Lane, Wickford, which was completely demolished. Extensive damage to property, gas, electricity, and water dislocated. Three people killed and fifteen injured. Rescue & Demolition parties sent . FA Parties and ambulances sent. Companies advised WVS to proceed to Jersey Gardens to give aid to about 50 homeless people. Billericay Office advised about 12 families to be evacuated. The other fell 150yds N of White Swan Hotel, The Broadway, Wickford.
13:17, In a field 100yds South of Billericay, Sudbury Farm House, Billericay. 1 unexploded bomb. Disposed of by BDS on the 14th November 1940. No Damage. County advised.
