1945(?) Children's Party, Nevendon Road

Celebrating the end of the war

I have just found this old photograph.  Before my Mother died in 1998 she told me that these children were having a party to celebrate the end of the Second World War.

My sister, Lynette Fuller, now Carter, is in the photograph, and I have attempted to identify her.

I have taken crops of the many faces, which may help others to identify family members.

  • My mum and her aunts were at the back with Lynette. My mum’s the one with the drink to her mouth, sitting on her Aunt Myrtle’s lap, with Ruby next to Myrtle. They are the Stubbings family who lived in Brickfield Cottages.
My nan was Irene Stubbings who was one of the squatters who moved onto the Nevendon Road army prefabs.

  • I remember taking Lynette on the “Royal Daffodil” to Margate. She broke a heel on her shoe!

  • Thanks Lyn for your comment, I have checked the party was in Nevendon Road behind one of the houses/bungalows between Grange and Elder Avenues.

  • Fascinating photos! I see it says this was at Nevenden Road. It looks like the Hall in Church End Lane.
