Many years ago I was talking to an elderly person who had lived in Wickford all her life and she remembered a wireless programme being transmitted from Wickford and said that there was a tall mast outside Darby’s factory in the Broadway, Wickford and the broadcast could have come from there. I have talked to many people since but none of them could remember this. This cutting from Pitsea and Vange Times 29th March 1930 could be what she was talking about. Has anyone else heard of this?
