Rettendon Church, c.1892

Photographs and information provided by Andrew Hart.

Andrew Hart visited the Memory Desk on 11th February, bringing with him these photographs which are part of his family collection.

The top photograph shows work being done on Rettendon church, probably in 1892.  His great grandfather, James Edward Livermore, is shown at the bottom right hand corner of the picture.

The lower photograph is of James Edward Livermore, taken by the church gate. It is thought that he was 21 years of age. For part of his life he lived in Pear Tree Cottage (?) at the lower end of Church Lane (the end near to where The Chichester Hotel is now).
