Yes, ‘Good Hope’ still stands, but remodified. My wife (nee Maureen Cooper) lived there about 1950-ish.

Good Hope was on the corner of Harold Gardens, and it is shown on the 1961 map. It’s now number 49 and has been weatherboarded, so it’s hard to tell if it’s still the same building. It looks a slightly different shape on the 1971 map, so this could be a new house built on the same site.

We also lived in a house called “Good Hope” in Runwell Road. It didn’t have a number….. but I wondered if anyone knew of it or if it was still standing? It would have been about 1953-4.

I remember staying with my parents in Guinea Pig Hall, when I was 2-3 years old, about 1953-4. My lasting memory was of the outside toilet in another tiny thatched building, and watching the woodworms crawling in and out of the walls while I was trying to go to sleep!!!
