Christ Church Brownies

Carnival Time

The Christ Church Brownies entered floats or walking groups into The Wickford Carnival most years. All year the children would look forward to “putting on a show”, thinking of new ideas, making the costumes and building the floats  In 1979 the theme for the float was “Children of the Future”. In 1987 The Walking Group “The Rainbow” won first prize, and for their 75th anniversary they dressed up in cake frills and candles.

  • That’s me in the top photograph “children of the future”!!  I am sitting above the Neptune sign, I was 9, loved Brownies to bits, am still in touch with my (old) Brown Owl and remain involved in Wickford Guiding. My daughter, 10, is a Guide in Wickford.
