Glick's, opticians.

Editor: We have received an enquiry from Philip Frogg.

“I was in what was D Glick opticians, and I casually asked if they knew when the business was established. I was told 1966.

Now, my family moved to Wickford in 1958, and my father (Jack Frogg) was manager of Shadforths chemist, next door to Glick’s shop. I can remember going to Glick’s as a junior school boy, I’m 70 now so it must have been pre-1961.

Can anyone remember when Glick’s opened, and what was the shop before that?”

Glick’s has been part of the town centre for many years, until recently. Any background history would help to fill in some gaps.
