The Keddie Brothers

Southend Business family connection to St Margaret's Church, Downham.

Downham War Memorial

The six bells in the church tower of St Margaret Downham are dedicated to the Keddie brothers who lived at Downham Grange. Two of the three brothers are buried in the churchyard, alongside their parents. Their father was a director and founder of the Keddies Department Store which once traded in Southend High Street. The names of the brothers are inscribed on the east facing side of the Downham War Memorial.
