St. Luke’s Church was the largest in the parish of Wickford (St. Catherine’s, St. Mary’s and St. Luke’s). The surrounding land had been sold and homes built on it. The church is for sale.

Hi. I was the organist there when the Revd David Lloyd was the priest. It was from about 1980 to 1990.

I was in there about a year ago, the organ and a piano were still there, the floor was perfect, ideal for a local play school or club, but it has bats in the belfry and Chelmsford City Council planned to build a house to accommodate the bats, to free up the building for further use. Whether this has been done I don’t know.
