The vanished giants of Wickford

JF Corney

In June 1973 Miss JF Corney  published an article together with a series of photographs of the Elm trees, that had grown in and around Wickford.

The article was published in a now defunct magazine called Essex Countrylife.

Unfortunately we do not have the article to view ,nor the copyright to publish if we did. However if you do have a copy please let us know

Wickford was well known for the giants of trees that are no more due to Dutch Elm Disease and the development of the town.In fact there was a variety of Elm tree described as the Chichester Elm  see history of the Chichester hotel, Wickford
