This is a photograph taken on a school trip to Stratford upon Avon, Winchester and Glastonbury Abbey. We stayed at Youth Hostels in Stratford upon Avon and in Winchester. The one in Winchester was the old mill with the waterwheel underneath and I think it is still a Youth Hostel. The trip was organised by Mr Phillips and Mr Rose (our headmaster) accompanied by Miss Amos (our Music teacher) and Mrs Branch (our PE teacher) I think the year was approximately 1951/2.
The clarity of the picture is poor and my memory isn’t much better but I do remember some of the names from left to right:- Mrs Branch, Shirley Hellings, Evelyn Macklesworth, Jean Grant, Corinne Tilbury, Mr Phillips, Elsie Steadman, ? , Daphne Pearl, Miss Amos, Pat Maddocks, Mr Rose, Margaret Stephens, ? , ? , Haigh Twins , ? , ? , ? , ? , ? , ? , Denis Mitcheson, Norman Goulding, Robert Catchpole, Roy Smith and Betty Hall. I apologise if I have got some of the names wrong but it is a long time ago.

Margaret Stephens mentioned in information regarding photo, died 2016, aged 79
P.S. The Hague twins were John and David.
I remember the trip very well. The mill race ran right through the youth hostel building and we were told not to keep hold of the rope when we threw the bucket in to get water! Also remember Mary Amos telling us to keep the noise down after lights out! Happy days.
I was not there but remember all those names. Where are they all now?
