The village hall becomes a home

Isabel Johnson's Ramsden Bellhouse and Heath Collection

In 1955 the wooden church hall next to ‘The Fox and Hounds’ became redundant and was put up for sale. Mr Burnet decided it could be converted into a bungalow and make a good-sized home. He started work on the conversion, working mainly on his own, first stripping out some of the inner walls and adding an extension, and then rendering the outside until it was unrecognisable as the hall.
