Wickford at War Exhibition

Items from the Archive and elsewhere : October 2014

Wickford Community Archive held its second exhibition on Saturday the 11th October at Christchurch, Wickford. It was a great success with over 125 visitors. It was great to see the visitors talking and discussing the photos and artifacts; many sat down and continued their conversations over tea and cakes. Some met friends they had not seen for years.

The Thomsons brought their collection of artifacts of WW2  and Alexander brought his Grandfather’s kilt, photographs and war diaries. Alexander had just completed his thesis for university on his grandfather’s war (WW1). I am hoping that he will add some of his research to the site.

David De’ath once again brought his collection of Roman finds from Runwell, and other local people lent WW1 articles from their collections.

Next year we would like to do a display of WW2 Wickford photos so do add them to the site.
